Objectifs d'apprentissage
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Locate relevant resources for the analysis of conflicts;
- Compile information and data on a conflict for the purpose of conflict analysis;
- Recognize latent and observable causes of conflict;
- Differentiate between structural and proximate causes of conflict as well as triggers and catalysts;
- Apply various conflict analysis tools and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses;
- Identify actors in conflict as well as the role that they play;
- Distinguish actors that contribute to the resolution of conflicts;
- Identify the role that ethnic and religious motives may play in conflicts;
- Trace the dynamics of conflict;
- Identify the build-up phase, the outbreak of violence and the existence of a deadlock;
- Distinguish signs of ripeness and potential dynamics of de- escalation;
- Analyze the key phases of a conflict;
- Identify the ways in which responses to a conflict can fuel hostilities;
- Develop scenarios regarding the evolution of a conflict;
- List strategic and programmatic recommendations for responding to a conflict;
- Point to the different ways in which women and men are affected by conflict;
- Identify the different levels of gender- sensitivity.
