This tutorial introduces how governments can respond to the climate change challenge through better budgeting, which integrates climate change risks and opportunities into budget preparation.The tutorial is divided into five sections, and it takes around 30 minutes to complete all sections.
The tutorial has been developed under the UNDP Strengthening the Governance of Climate Change Finance to benefit the poor and vulnerable (2012-16) programme, with support from the Government of Sweden. The content is based on methodological work by Kit Nicholson.

At the core of this e-tutorial is a case study of an irrigation scheme in Thailand, the Plychumpol scheme, while the information is delivered based on a "hands-on" approach including interactive exercises.
At the end of the e-tutorial, you have the opportunity to test the knowledge you acquired by answering the 10 questions available. However, the test is not compulsory.
The e-tutorial is narrated so you will need the audio turned on. You are also given the possibility to download the document containing the scrip and a glossary of terms in a PDF format either from the first slide, once you entered the tutorial, or from below, before you start.

The e-tutorial has been designed for officials located within a sector ministry affected by climate change, particularly the agriculture sector. However other interest groups may also find the content useful.

UN CC:Learn is a partnership of more than 30 multilateral organizations supporting countries to design and implement systematic, recurrent and results-oriented climate change learning. At the global level, the partnership supports knowledge-sharing, promotes the development of common climate change learning materials, and coordinates learning interventions through a collaboration of UN agencies and other partners. At the national level, UN CC:Learn supports countries in developing and implementing national climate change learning strategies. Through its engagement at the national and global levels, UN CC:Learn contributes to the implementation of Article 6 of the UNFCCC on training, education and public awareness-raising, and the 2012-2020 Doha Work Programme. Funding for UN CC:Learn is provided by the Swiss Government and UN partners. The Secretariat for UN CC:Learn is hosted by the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
